Rhinoplasty

As a result of the significant increase in the importance given to aesthetic appearance today, the most increasing aesthetic surgical procedures are aesthetic nose surgeries (rhinoplasty). The curvatures, humps, irregularities in the external appearance of the nose are thought to disrupt facial aesthetics and require correction. Since some of these patients also have curvatures in the inner nasal cartilage and bone, it is planned to eliminate all nose-related problems in the same session.

The communication established between the patient and the doctor in rhinoplasty surgery is extremely important. Both the patient's wishes should be clearly understood by the doctor, and the boundaries drawn by the doctor for the surgery should be clearly understood by the patient. In this case, it will be much easier to achieve a result that will satisfy both parties.

Techniques in rhinoplasty surgery change and are renewed almost every year, and up-to-date follow-up of these techniques is absolutely necessary for a successful surgery.

There are open and closed rhinoplasty techniques in terms of the area where the incisions are made. In open rhinoplasty, an incision is made between the nostrils called the columella, and the upper skin of the nose is completely lifted to provide a wide field of vision. In closed rhinoplasty, the incision is made from the inside of the nose, not from the outside, and as a result, the field of vision of the nose narrows. Each surgeon chooses his or her surgical technique according to the proficiency of his or her own hands and the availability of the patient's anatomical structure.

After the surgery, which takes approximately 2.5-4 hours under general anesthesia, tampons can be placed inside the nose and an external splint can be placed on the nose. Although the time for removing these varies by doctor, tampons are removed on the 3rd day and the nasal external splint is removed on the 7th day on average. Since the external bones of the nose are also intervened in the aesthetic procedure, edema and swelling occur around the nose, under the eyes and in the forehead. While these swellings decrease significantly by the end of the first week, it may take a few months for the swelling on the nose to disappear.

Following the recommendations given by the doctor after the surgery is very important in order to achieve the desired result. Recommendations such as protecting the nose from trauma, not wearing glasses for the first 3 months and not always sleeping on the same side prevent undesirable results.
